Reasons why we wont be buying a new home.
- You wont be happy living in an amazing home , and still working for others. This is the most important thing for you. Its even more important for Inika , because jobs of the future will be paying even lesser and robots gradually take over.
- Spending a lot of money on home wont let you pursue your ultimate dream.
- Rashmi and me anyways will start finding faults with the new home , and start complaining about whats wrong and how we already felt something might be wrong with it.
- Right now , its a big deal for both of us – and especially Rashmi to go up or down the stairs , and huge home will be even harder to clear/ declutter / maintain. Remember this is something that slightly stresses you out.
- Would you want to give Ini a huge home – which she will never live in , or would you want to give her 10-20 mil $s. While time is moving fast , there is still a lot of time to get in a position where i could quit the job and pursue the business idea. At-least it will teach her to be bold and go after what we want and we need to delay gratification to get in a position where we can do what we want. Its extremely likely this business would succeed and we would have a lot more to give her in terms of life lessons than a mere mansion , which anyways will deteriorate over time.
- Buying a new home is a waste of time ( and money ). Almost a year would be spent moving / furnishing the new place. Real estate will give the poorest return on investment , plus there would be money lost in sales commission.
- Remember the lines from the Shania Twain song This is a positive motivating line encouraging listener to pursue the future while being grateful for the current situation and also another way to read this is to not worry about the things that have happened in the past / spilt milk. So do not think about how a manion would have been a smaller purchase had we not lost a million.

- The only positive that comes with buying a million dollar home would be a “higher sense of self-worth” , but this always going to be superficial. There might be someone else buying a bigger home next door or in the neighborhood , and then what. I don’t want to be comparing to the Jones next door.
- At the end of my life , its more important to give Ini something that allows her to chase what she wants and have that fire in her , and not a stupid home.
- Note for both Rashmi and me: We don’t want to be impressing anyone – including our parents. My father anyways will never have anything nice to say.
- Sometimes it can be tempting to buy a new home , because you are getting a good deal , but remember the above. You need to fight the temptations to after what you want.
